Jakarta bombing: Indonesia not ready for crisis situation Mass

emergency roomJakarta, 17/07/09, we were surprised again with two bombs that exploded in Kawasan Mega 2 brass precisely in elite hotels, the JW Marriot hotel and the Ritz-Carlton, Jakarta. Based on the latest news, found dead 9, and 36 wounded, which eventually was rushed to hospital MMC, Medistra, RS. Jakarta, and RSP Pertamina.

The news is still mixed. The explosion was an explosion of "High Explosion" which of course will result in "High Energy Injury type" on the victims. From the testimonies of witnesses and the people around who help victims of the explosion, found info that the Ambulance and Paramedic medical team and a very late arrival, which is about 25 minutes after the incident.

Yet the situation is an emergency situation, which help in the first seconds will determine whether the victim lives can be saved. Of course, that should help the first victim, should be someone who is trained to provide first aid in emergency conditions. Until now, very few clouds (non-medical - non paramedic) who have attended special training to provide basic aid for emergency patients. This indicated that the "Awareness - Disaster Preparedness" has not become the culture of our society.

Even not all security officers (guards - Civil Defense) had been trained to deal with emergency medical conditions. Not only that, the system of ambulatory patients (freight-transport patients) in Indonesia, most still use the Ambulance cars, the limited mobility because of the traffic situation is often jammed. Disaster crisis coordination system in Indonesia is not yet integrated and tersistem well, so sometimes difficult to coordinate systems and the medical officer nearest emergency facilities in evacuating victims.

In contrast to the developed countries, where hospital ambulatory system is using helicopters to transport trauma patients, and in every hospital had a trauma team is always ready to face situations of mass disaster such as this. Even in countries like the U.S., existing call center call center where staff will provide instructions on steps that can be done by common people to deal with emergency situations. Well .. this great homework for this nation .... Our readiness is often too late.
